Clinical Supervision

Clinical supervision is an important cornerstone of any therapist’s professional practice. This is especially true during the formative years of education and training, but remains relevant throughout all stages of one’s therapeutic career. The field we have committed our lives to is constantly evolving and emotionally challenging, and good supervisory support is an important component of therapist well-being and longevity.

As with any therapeutic relationship, we know that a good fit between supervisor and supervisee is essential for positive outcomes so we are happy to offer free consultations to those who may be interested in clinical supervision. Contact us today to learn more!

More About Clinical Supervision

NTC is able to provide clinical supervision on an ongoing or “as-needed” basis (e.g. practicum placements, RP-Q terms, one-off appointments).

Supervision style is collaborative, strengths-based and strongly influenced by CBT theory.

Interventions/methods may include:
  • Setting benchmarks based on professional growth goals
  • Developing case conceptualizations
  • Regular caseload reviews and session debriefs
  • Continuing education and resource sharing
  • Direct session feedback (via observation or audio-recording)

Peer Support

The trend of independent or “solo” practice is certainly on the rise and, while it offers many advantages, a potential drawback is the segregation and isolation of practitioners.

At NTC, we are committed to fostering a community of therapists working together to support one another and share ideas.

Our work can be difficult and emotionally demanding and having the space to share or debrief difficult cases is an essential component of therapist health and well-being.

Potential Benefits of Peer Consultation

  • Reduced isolation & burnout prevention
  • Exposure to new ideas and perspectives
  • Provides an avenue for “due diligence” when consulting on difficult cases
  • Allows you to maintain independence while fostering connections within the profession
  • Network & referral opportunities

More Information on Fees and Investing in Your Mental Well-Being

Equitable and Fair

At NTC, we strive to ensure that all of our services are equitable and fair, and fees will be set according to the nature of service provided, not based on the background of the clinician. NTC also aims to open doors for as many people as possible by offering accessible options for those who may not have access to private mental health services. As such, each therapist will offer two sliding-scale spots on their caseload. Group service provides another valuable opportunity to receive therapeutic support at a reduced cost. Reach out to learn more about our fees and financially-friendly options for care.

NTC Policies

Your therapist will go over expectations for payment in your consultation call or first appointment. At NTC, payment is expected via Electronic Money Transfer (e-transfer) following completion of the appointment.

We respectfully ask for at least 24 hours notice in the event of cancellation. Same day cancellations may result in a reduced (half-cost) fee and no shows will be charged the full session amount.

Insurance Coverage

Many extended health benefit plans cover regulated mental health services. Please check with your insurance provider to determine if you have coverage for counselling and psychotherapy services with professionals who are either a Registered Social Worker (RSW) with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Services Workers (OCSWSSW), or a Registered Psychotherapist (RP) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). Receipts will be provided once payment is received.
